81st Academy Awards predictions

ACTOR
Richard Jenkins – The Visitor
Frank Langella – Frost/Nixon
Sean Penn – Milk
Brad Pitt – The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Mickey Rourke – The Wrestler

Mickey Rourke as broken-down professional wrestler whose glory days are far behind him is the perfect role for him and he deserve and Oscar.

ACTRESS
Anne Hathaway – Rachel Getting Married
Angelina Jolie – Changeling
Melissa Leo – Frozen River
Meryl Streep – Doubt
Kate Winslet – The Reader

All of them are great and it is very hard to predict, but I’m going for Kate Winslet performance on post-World War II drama The Reader

SUPPORTING ACTOR
Josh Brolin – Milk
Robert Downey Jr. – Tropic Thunder
Philip Seymour Hoffman – Doubt
Heath Ledger – The Dark Knight
Michael Shannon – Revolutionary Road

Heath Ledger performance as Batman’s leading arch-enemy, the Joker, was nothing short of outstanding, turning the clownish villain into a face of nihilism that even audiences who were not fans of the comic books could appreciate.

SUPPORTING ACTRESS
Amy Adams – Doubt
Penelope Cruz – Vicky Cristina Barcelona
Viola Davis – Doubt
Taraji P. Henson – The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Marisa Tomei – The Wrestler

Viola Davis character faces any parent’s worst fear: learning that your child may be the victim of sexual abuse.

DIRECTOR
Danny Boyle – Slumdog Millionaire
Stephen Daldry – The Reader
Clint Eastwood – Changeling
David Fincher – The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Ron Howard – Frost/Nixon

Danny Boyle is great director and I love all his films. Slumdog Millionaire is a breathless, exciting story, heartbreaking and exhilarating film. Films like that remind us why we go to movies and why we love movies.

PICTURE
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Frost/Nixon
Milk
The Reader
Slumdog Millionaire

I do believe that the winner of best Director will not be the same of best picture. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button will get the Oscar. I like the film but I think Slumdog Millionaire and The Reader are better movies. This is the Oscar.
